Case Study: Where There is No Wall

Last week, I had a challenge I hadn’t been faced with before:

”There isn’t a good wall for you to draw on.”

No problem, I’ll bring a Neuland wall.

“You need to fly.”

No problem, I’ll bring a couple of easels and have foamcore delivered to the site. (I’ve had a Neuland wall get destroyed in checked baggage.)

“We can’t accept deliveries.”

No problem, I’ll arrive early and pick up some foamcore myself.

“The earliest flight arrives 30 minutes before the first speaker begins.”

…well now, that is a challenge.

Thankfully, Sarah Spencer saved the day. She had just posted a blog about how to build a portable wall that CAN be checked as luggage. Here’s my attempt to replicate what she did:

Sarah’s approach was the perfect solution to the problem. I was able to arrive, set up, and be ready to go with plenty of time to spare.
Here’s a quick video from the event:

And here’s how the final charts themselves turned out.

Sarah’s solution worked a LOT better than I would have expected. I’m definintely going to be using my new portable, checkable wall again!
