IMG_1148.jpeg

Hey subscribers! Think With Ink is not just a blog, it’s also a 2-day workshop on visual facilitation! The next workshop will be May 11 and 12 in the DC area. It will show you the essentials of using visuals modalities to facilitate groups. The workshop will cover:

1. Charting Technique: markers, handling big paper, color use, lettering, basic drawing, shapes, layouts, listening for synthesis, and

2. Visual Modalities: visual energizers and icebreakers, meeting principles and ground rules, and visual tools for brainstorming ideas, comparing ideas, and collaboratively deciding the way forward.

This workshop is perfect for:

• The facilitator who wants to build a repertoire of visual tools,

• The note taker or scribe who wants to build their visual vocabulary,

• The team member who wants to bring visual, participatory methods to the team, and

• The consultant who wants to help clients solve problems in a visual way.

This hands-on, practice-driven workshop will give you everything you need to visually facilitate groups through the toughest challenges.

Hope you will join us!

FAQs

Will this teach me to facilitate using large paper, markers, and visual templates?

Yes.

Will this teach me to graphic record?

Graphic recording or scribing is large-scale visual notetaking for groups. By contrast, visual facilitation is using large scale visual modalities to help move a group through a process. Although you can apply many of the visual facilitation methods in Think With Ink to graphic recording, we will focus on facilitated visual modalities rather than on the aesthetics of graphic recording.

Where will the workshop take place?

We're still in the process of finalizing a venue, but it will be in the DC Metro area. We'll announce the venue as soon we know.

When is it specifically?

Monday May 11 from 9AM to 5PM, and Tuesday May 12 from 9AM to 5PM.

What can I bring into the event?

Please bring questions, comments, experiences, and a willingness to learn and share with others! It's not necessary to bring your own markers, but if you have any favorite tools, bring them!

How many people will be attending?

The limit is 18; the minimum number to hold the class is 8. If we have less than 8 people sign up, we'll cancel the class and issue a full refund to any one signed up.

How do I sign up?

Email brian@lizardbrain.com with your name, email address, and how you'd like to pay. The fee for the class is $1800. You can pay via PayPal, Venmo, ApplePay, or check. You can also pay by credit card, but there's a 4.5% service charge, which would bring the total to $1881. Brian will send you details once you let him know how you'd prefer to pay; he can also issue you a paid invoice if you need one.

What's the deadline to sign up?

We're ordering materials from all over the world, including markers specially designed for facilitation from Germany, which you'll get to keep. Since we have to order them 3 weeks in advance, the last day to sign up is April 20th.

What about refunds?

We can issue refunds less a 4.5% service charge until April 20th. After that, no refunds will be issued.
